CECILIA LA MANTIA
Cecilia La Mantia is a PhD student in Oncology and Experimental Surgery at the University of Palermo, Italy, within the International PhD Course – Cycle XL. Her research focuses on the development of innovative oromucosal formulations aimed at preventing oncogenic damage induced by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), with particular interest in the oral mucosa as a potential route of exposure and site of local accumulation.
She obtained a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (single-cycle degree) from the University of Palermo, graduating with honours (110/110 cum laude). During her academic career, she developed expertise in drug delivery systems, with a particular focus on lipid-based nanoparticles, mucoadhesive formulations, and innovative strategies for oral healthcare applications.
Her research activities involve the development and characterization of advanced pharmaceutical systems, including ex vivo permeation studies, in vitro drug release evaluations, and analytical techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). She is co-author of several scientific publications and has contributed to national and international conferences in the fields of drug delivery, nanotechnology, and oral health.
Cecilia is a motivated and curious researcher who enjoys working in multidisciplinary environments and collaborating with colleagues from different scientific backgrounds. She is passionate about innovation in pharmaceutical sciences and is always eager to expand her knowledge through new research experiences and international collaborations.
